A few weeks back the editor of the magazine Creative Light, for The Guild of Photographers, sent me a message enquiring about using one of my images for the front cover. The image in question was one I took of studio model, Nicky Robinson (Miss Deadly Red), last year and had just won a Silver Bar award in the Guild's monthly competition the month before.
Obviously I was excited beyond belief that I was to have a front cover of a magazine, especially as it is one for fellow photographers. A week later Julie Oswin (the editor) rang me to say mine had been selected for the second issue, but I was to keep very quiet about it, so as not to lose the impact. This I can tell you was extremely hard to do, but I managed it! I also had to write a small piece about me, the studio and the shoot (which you'll find on pg6).
Those that know me well will know that I'm the worst person in the world to blow my own trumpet! Indeed it's normally the case for me to congratulate triumphs from other, yet fail to divulge my own, so this time I felt it was justified just to say, I'm proud and humbled to have had this honour and I hope it is the first of many publications that my images will grace.
